Rainer’s career in communications started in the 1990s and over 100 clients ago. He formed the predecessor to Ingredients in Canada with his business partner and wife, Mary, in 1999 after working for top Toronto, Canada PR agencies. Rainer has counseled executives of some of North America’s industry leaders in food, consumer products, health care, not-for-profit and government. A graduate of McMaster University and Toronto Metropolitan University (TMU, formerly Ryerson University), Rainer holds degrees in Political Science and History, as well as a graduate degree in Journalism. Rainer has also earned TMU’s post-graduate certificate in Public Relations and is a globally accredited professional communications specialist.
Mary’s career in public relations and marketing began in the government and not-for-profit sectors, with almost a decade managing communications and marketing for two of Canada’s fastest growing municipalities and one of Canada’s leading not-for-profit organizations. Mary started Impact with Rainer in 1999 and has been immersed in all communications and strategic roles for the “who’s who” of North American food clients. These clients inspired Mary to become a talented cook and recipe creator, and she is an expert and in-demand recipe editor. A graduate of the University of Waterloo – one of North America’s top three technology universities – Mary holds an honours degree in Applied Health Sciences, with a Business Option from Wilfrid Laurier University.
